Client side application
Developing applications for mobile phones is very different from developing web sites. Unlike web sites, which run on desktops of laptops, mobile applications are required to operate smoothly and efficiently in a resource limited environment. The screen is smaller, there is less memory and the CPU processing power is limited. A good application provides great user experience, smooth operation and attractive user interface in this resource-limited environment.
…and lets not forget the fragmentation of the mobile market. Few of your users will use iPhone, others are using Android, some are using Nokia phones etc. In order to reach a wide audience in different geographical territories one has to carefully plan the development. -

Client-Server application
Developing a client-server application in a mobile environment is a challenge by itself. Unlike Web sites, which rely on broadband Internet access, mobile apps and games need to operate in relatively low bandwidth connectivity. Client-server connectivity has not only work effectively in narrow band connectivity but it also has to successfully go through the mobile network with its WAP Gateways, Network Proxies and policy management servers which may differ from mobile operator to mobile operator.
