User Interface Design

A well designed user interface encompasses four distinct, yet related constructs: usability, visualization, functionality and accessibility. The interface design has to be usable or, in other words, how intuitively or easily it allows your visitors to navigate and perform common actions. The user interface has to be visually interesting and aesthetically pleasing while avoiding potentially distracting or unnecessary elements. It has to be functional, which refers to the features of your site and how useful they are for supporting the site's purpose. And finally, the web user interface has to be accessible also to users with certain disabilities.

The home page is the first page your customers see and decide whether to continue browsing or not. As such the home page has to include a summary of your business or site in a simple yet attractive way.

The various sections in your site should be easily accessible and include relevant information to the user. The separation into different sections should be clearly indicated and easily accesible to your visitors.

If you site has a photo or media gallery one should make sure that it is both attractive and does not slow down the site's loading time. Using AJAX is a good practice as it allows loading items in the background.

It is good practice to support your site and business with a mini-site on the leading social networks. Many people search for business on Facebook and Linkedin, and follow updates on Twitter.
